philantrophy

I see all of a sudden people have become aware of philanthropy. Everyone i know is associated with some NGO or the other contributing whatever they can either in cash or kind.

Even large corporations these days have their own corporate philanthropy plan. It makes it all the more easier for people working in that organization to get access to issues of their interest, its all in your door step...you have to just make one move to participate. But, still people dont...the reason i see is probably they don't relate to that particular cause, they are already doing something on their individual capacity, or they are plain not interested.

As a part of employee volunteering the company that i work for has a program called back to school . This is basically sponsoring economically backward children with books and bag and other schooling needs. I heard the response was very low. It could be because of the market uncertainty...nobody knows what where next.

While i was trying to get people to contribute, i got many interesting mixed bag responses...Did u contribute, i am already sponsoring 3 children, Gosh! not again, How will i know where my money has gone,Hey!, i have already done something like this in my BU, Can i meet the kid, Will books and bags do - what about fees, a salary deduction...

One thing i realised, getting people to part with their money is not an easy task. However good or serious the cause might be. They basically want to understand what credentials you have to handle the cause or their money. Trust is a hardly found thing these days...

Lunch over conversation

Lunch time is my favourite hour in the 9 hours of stay at work :D . You get to talk about all mundane things in the world well most of the times other than office gossip and rumours.

Yesterday, somehow we got talking about religion, beliefs and rituals that each one follow. Interestingly one colleague who is a gizmo freak, been all around the world and a staunch vaishnavites is so stuck up that he wont take names of Shiva. Apparently when he met his Now wife for the first time and he figured that her family believes in '"Mother" (Auroville) , he made it very clear to her that if they were to get married then there should be no word of Mother in his house. I was very surprised and shocked at this. I mean how can you ask someone to change their beliefs. I somehow don't get it because beliefs are deep routed its does not work like a switch and yes they are happily married now :)

beats me

What does it mean when someone says, oh! i didnt call because i have nothing to talk !.... Well, for some its just that obvious there is nothing to talk...but for me its like a slap on my face....thats me and my opinion

I still dont get it HOW can someone have not have anything to talk...beats me...especially when the other is quite interesting(has a good listening and talking capacity and interest range from highly intersting to utter crap) and you have one million things going on in your own life and you are all over the WWW space..there is so much information all around and you still say a BLAND i have nothing to talk...Bah!

i realised such people are not worth my time...

Pilates

Pilates (pronounced /pɨˈlɑːtiːz/) is a physical fitness system developed in the early 20th century by Joseph Pilates in Germany.[1] As of 2005 there are 11 million people who practice the discipline regularly and 14,000 instructors in the United States.[2]

Pilates called his method Contrology (from control and Greek -λογία, -logia), because he believed his method uses the mind to control the muscles.[3] The program focuses on the core postural muscles which help keep the body balanced and which are essential to providing support for the spine. In particular, Pilates exercises teach awareness of breath and alignment of the spine, and aim to strengthen the deep torso muscles.

Exercise is boring, and especially if you have to it alone and indoors. But you HAVE TO DO there is no choice..lol I do different kind of exercise each day and that keeps me motivated, so one day if its plain boring running on treadmill looking at my neighbours bedroom..lol, next day its with resistance band, another day its pilates, another day its yoga ... and Saturday and Sunday i sleep till 10am :D

And here you can see some videos of pilates ( P la tis) , its easy, its fun, its playful and its lying down exercise...i love :D :) Hope you have fun as much as i have while doing this set.
